The fastest route is in the app itself: Settings → Contact Support pre-fills an email and can attach diagnostics, so we can actually see what happened. Either way, a human reads every message.

Frequently asked

How do I set up automatic trip detection?

Automatic detection needs three permissions: Location set to "Always" (so drives can be detected with the app closed), Motion & Fitness (so walking is filtered out), and Notifications (so you hear when a trip ends).

The Home tab shows a setup health card whenever something is degraded — location left on "While Using", motion access off, or Low Power Mode — with a one-tap Open Settings. You can replay the full setup guide any time from Settings.

A drive wasn't recorded. What happened?

Usually iOS put the app to sleep, or a permission changed. Two places to look first:

Settings → App Data → Auto-Discarded Trips. Recordings judged to be GPS noise are kept there with the evidence used — nothing is silently deleted — and one tap restores them.

Settings → Missed Trip Recovery. Turn it on and, if your iPhone slept through a drive, the trip can be rebuilt afterward from where you left and arrived — clearly marked as an estimate and left for your review.

If drives are still going missing, export Settings → App Data → Debug Logs and email them over — the log shows exactly what detection saw.

A walk or a shuttle ride got logged as a drive.

With Motion & Fitness access granted, walking is actively filtered out of trip starts — so first make sure that permission is on. Recordings the app rejects as noise live in Settings → App Data → Auto-Discarded Trips rather than your log. A wrongly kept trip can be deleted or reclassified from the trip list with a swipe.

How much battery does it use?

Background GPS uses some battery; the app keeps the cost low by adapting its sampling to your speed. If you want the minimum footprint, Settings can restrict automatic tracking to when the phone is plugged in — most drivers charge in the car anyway.

Note that Low Power Mode limits background activity and can delay detection; the Home tab health card will flag it.

How do I export my mileage for taxes?

From Reports, export a CSV or PDF for any range: all time, a year, recent months, or custom dates. The Year-End Tax Package builds three files at once — a per-trip CSV, a summary PDF, and a plain-text compliance summary an accountant can open anywhere — and a pre-filing checklist names any gaps first: unclassified trips, business trips missing a purpose, missing odometer readings.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → App Data → Backup writes every trip to a JSON file you own; restore it later from the file picker on the same or a new iPhone. The app also keeps a daily automatic backup on your device, visible in the Files app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — backups are files in your hands.

Can I change the IRS rate the app uses?

Yes. Rates are locked to the year of each trip so history never silently changes, and every year's rate is editable in Settings. Recent IRS rates are built in, including mid-year changes, and each trip is priced at the rate for its own date.

Enjoying the app?

A short review genuinely helps an independent app get found. Leave a review on the App Store — and if something's not working, email first so it can be fixed.
