Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026 · Applies to the Smart Mileage Tracker iOS app and this website, smartmileagetracker.com.
Your trips stay on this device. There is no account and no server of ours for them to be uploaded to.
This privacy policy explains how the app handles your data. The short version above is the whole story; the rest is the detail.
Information the App Uses
- Location data during trips (stays on your device)
- Trip details — date, time, distance — stored locally
- Device information (never uploaded)
- Motion and activity data (device only)
- Favorite locations you save (local storage)
- Time spent at favorite locations (on device)
- Power and accuracy preferences (local only)
How the App Uses This Information
Everything below happens on your iPhone:
- Track your mileage and create reports
- Display saved favorite locations on your trip logs
- Track time spent at your favorite locations
- Optimize battery usage based on your preferences
- Provide enhanced GPS accuracy when plugged in
- Troubleshoot technical issues, via diagnostics you can choose to export
- Check for app updates from the App Store
Data Storage and Security
Your trips are stored in a database on this device. There is no cloud sync and no account. You can back up your data yourself from Settings → App Data → Backup, which writes a file you own and can restore from later. The app also keeps a daily automatic backup on your device, visible in the Files app — it never leaves your iPhone.
Address Lookup
To turn trip coordinates into street addresses and place names, the app uses Apple's built-in Maps services. Those lookups send the coordinates to Apple as part of the operating system's service — we never receive them. Everything else about a trip stays on your device.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your location data and trip information remain private and under your control. App update checks are performed using Apple's public iTunes API and do not share personal information.
This Website
smartmileagetracker.com is a set of static pages: no cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no ads, and no forms. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages; as with any web host, GitHub may keep standard server access logs (such as IP addresses) to operate and secure the service — we do not receive or use them. If you email support@smartmileagetracker.com, your message is used only to answer you.
Changes to This Policy
If the app ever changes how it handles data, this policy will be updated here first, with a new date at the top, before that change ships.
